At St Hugh’s College, we are proud to be a Lao-founded institution with a mission rooted in purpose: to expand access to world-class education for students in Laos—especially those with the passion to learn but limited opportunities to do so.
We believe every student deserves the chance to dream, grow, and succeed—regardless of background or borders. This vision has led us to establish transformative partnerships with global academic leaders:
While St Hugh’s remains an independent and Lao institution, these partnerships bring global academic standards to local soil. Students can now begin their international education journey right here at home—with pathways that are rigorous, recognised, and relevant to the global job market.
In 2023, BUV became the first university in Vietnam and ASEAN to earn global quality accreditation from the UK’s QAA, along with a QS 5-star Excellent University rating—testaments to the standard of education we bring to Laos.
At our college, we are driven by a powerful belief: that access to world-class education should not be limited by financial constraints. Founded with a clear purpose, our mission is to provide high-quality international education to students who aspire to study abroad but are held back by economic challenges.
We exist to open doors—to create a pathway for ambitious, capable individuals to pursue global academic standards without leaving their home country or incurring overwhelming financial burdens. By combining internationally recognised curricula with local relevance and support, we aim to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed on a global stage.
Education is one of the most important pillars in a person’s life, and we are committed to making it more inclusive, equitable, and impactful. Through this mission, we hope not only to uplift individual lives but also to contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation. We believe that by educating our people, we are shaping a better, stronger future for our communities and the country.
We are committed to developing students who are:
At St Hugh’s College, we believe that true education begins with humanity. Our learning community is grounded in:
Collaboration & Innovation

NCUK (Northern Consortium United Kingdom) is a trusted global education provider that specialises in preparing international students for entry into leading universities worldwide. With a network of over 45 prestigious universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA, NCUK offers guaranteed university placement* upon successful completion of its programmes.
NCUK purpose?
Why Do Most International Students Choose a Foundation Programme Like NCUK IFY?
✅ Bridge the Gap in Education Systems
Most students around the world finish school after 12 years, while UK universities require 13 years. It’s the case for Lao mor 7.
✅ A level / IB
If your A-level or IB results don’t meet direct university entry, the IFY gives you another opportunity to qualify for top universities—without losing a full academic year.
At St Hugh’s College, we proudly offer the NCUK International Foundation Year, giving students in Laos the opportunity to gain a globally recognised qualification and direct access to world-class undergraduate programmes abroad.

British University Vietnam (BUV) is a leading international university that delivers UK-accredited degrees entirely in English, right in the heart of Southeast Asia. Partnered with prestigious institutions such as the University of London and Staffordshire University, BUV offers a modern, industry-relevant curriculum aligned with global standards.
Why do we choose BUV? What is St Hugh’s purpose?
At our institution, we are committed to supporting students by making high-quality international education more accessible and affordable. Understanding the financial challenges of studying abroad, we offer a cost-effective 2+2 pathway in partnership with the British University Vietnam (BUV).
Through this programme, students complete the first two years of their bachelor’s degree in Lao PDR, followed by two years of study in Vietnam at BUV. This model significantly reduces the overall cost of education by lowering tuition and living expenses during the initial years, while still providing students the opportunity to graduate with a prestigious British degree.
This solution addresses concerns about the high cost of living in foreign countries, allowing students and families to benefit from an internationally recognised qualification without the financial burden typically associated with studying overseas.
As an academic partner of BUV, St Hugh’s College offers students in Laos the opportunity to earn internationally recognised bachelor’s degrees in international business management and hospitality management.
In 2023, BUV became the first university in Vietnam and ASEAN to receive global quality accreditation from the UK’s QAA and holds a QS 5-star Excellent University rating, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and student success.

At St Hugh’s College, we are proud to collaborate with two internationally respected education organisations: NCUK and British University Vietnam (BUV). These partnerships reflect our commitment to bringing world-class education to Laos and expanding global opportunities for our students.
